Sneak Peek and New Wellington Project

We did our PDI (pre-delivery inspection) and walk through of the home we finished last week.  A few straggling details to finish up but we are pretty happy with the outcome of this home!  Here are a few detail shots just for you ;)

A project that we are very excited to be started just outside of wellington.  Also.....we are going to start giving homes names instead of Wellington Home or Cressy House....because frankly, those are boring.
So we are going to start by calling this one "Wine Country Waterfront" (or #winecountrywaterfront on social!)

This is the site as of this morning:

As you can see its another slab-on-grade home, lots of steel (all the heart eyes) and large windows facing the lake.  Here are a couple preliminary design concepts:

What's New with You?

Hello Friends,

Its been a while so lets just put the last year behind us and continue on with whats happening now!

We have a busy spring/summer coming up full of new homes.
A couple of weeks ago we started a project just past Waupoos on County Road 8, we built a similar "model" of this house last Fall and co-incidentally these new clients came to us with the same inspiration pictures/ideas!  We were able to take them for a walk through and they were sold...with a few changes to make it all their own.

Here is the site as it appeared last week:

As you can see it's a slab on grade construction, the footings are poured and this week it is being framed up!

Here is a photo of the home we completed in the fall...I'm excited to see how this house will turn out compared to last Fall's project!

We are also in the end stage of another new build that we began in Fall 2017.  Here is some progress from that site:

We are eager to get this one completed in the next few weeks so we can start a few more!

April Showers bring May... Houses?

Hello All,

Look...I got our May update published IN MAY! *pat myself on the back*

Our Prinyers Cove project is moving along, we have had some owner additions and changes that have delayed some of our installations, but all is good here and as long as our homeowner's are happy with their home at the end of the process...then we are happy too!

If you have been following us on social media (namely Instagram) @hickoryhomes you will already have seen our project on Waupoos Island.  The logistics of building/renovating on the island have been a challange...between weather and boat delay's, we are a bit behind our ideal schedule on this one (although we will be pulling up our boots and getting this project done ON TIME!).
It has been pretty fun though...look ...we're on a boat!

April Updates

I know....April Updates posted in May...I'm trying people... but we are so busy!

Today is a rain day, and so was yesterday...and so is tomorrow...*insert eye roll*
Well, I think it's safe to say that this year will not be a level 3 drought, here is what the beach looks like as of last weekend....
I know!! WHAT BEACH....

On the building front here is what he had going on April:

Farm Stand/Landscape Store/I'm not sure in Wellington...stay tuned to social media for what exactly this space is going to become... its going to be great, whatever it ends up being ;)

We got it all closed in and ready for siding and interior work.  We used Havelock Metal again for this project...and apparently we used Rona Trenton for the house wrap... ;P

We finished up that modern project in Carrying Place with the GREAT ceiling.....
I will have updated/pretty interior/exterior photos in the next few weeks but until then here is a little sneak peek of some details right before we completed.

We got our project in Prinyers Cove all closed in...and then it started to rain, and rain, and rain.... at this rate, we should have built them an Ark instead of a house.....

Another project using Havelock Metal....they should be sponsoring this post..... *ahem...wink, wink*

See you in a few weeks for our May updates (hopefully posted in May).

March Updates

Spring is in our sights here in Prince Edward County! Our current projects in Carrying Place and Prinyers' Cove are well underway, we were lucky this year to have a pretty mild winter (knock on wood!!).
Nothing to exciting (picture wise) to update on those projects... except that our clients in Carrying Place have opted for a design with some pretty spectacular glulam beam details...check them out:

Eek...is anyone else as excited as I am to see those beams with the finished ceilings!!??

If you follow us on Instagram you will have already seen the video of this demo a few weeks ago....

Out with the old.....

Soon to be a stunning new beachfront home...stay tuned!!

We also have a commercial project on the go in the Wellington area, a new landscape/veggie stand/organic seed company or something....I'm sure I've got that all wrong....I'll be correcting myself later!  There has been a bit of progress since this photo was taken, but here is the footprint:

We've got a few more projects starting in the next few weeks, so check us out next month!

February Fun

Things are miving along nicely at our current job sites.  The weather hasn't delayed us too terribly (at least not compared to previous years!!).
In Prinyers Cove we have some walls up and expect to have trusses installed by early next week....as long as the weather continues to co-operate.

Happy 2017!

We've are off to a busy start in 2017.  We have 2 projects well underway and are looking to start the third as soon as we get permits!

The two projects we have in progress couldn't be at more opposite ends of PEC!  A lot of people are surprised to find out that we only build in The County...and a lot of people forget, or don't realize, how large The County is!  The drive from our project in Carrying Place to our project in Prinyers Cove is 1 hour and 5 minutes.  That's according to Google....if Kyle is driving it will take less time ;)  I'm joking...Kyle is a very responsible driver!

The projects are very similar, in that, the customers have decided to do a lot of their own sourcing for finishes.  Conversely, they are very different in their building style, one is modern and one is a more traditional bungalow! Both customers have taken a very active role in the selection process, sometimes this can leave me (Christine) twiddling my thumbs a bit...but in this case it has left me freed up to work on our third upcoming project of the year...and I cannot wait to show you the plans and details! (but not yet ;P).

Here are some framing progress pics of our Carrying Place project:
