We've are off to a busy start in 2017. We have 2 projects well underway and are looking to start the third as soon as we get permits!
The two projects we have in progress couldn't be at more opposite ends of PEC! A lot of people are surprised to find out that we only build in The County...and a lot of people forget, or don't realize, how large The County is! The drive from our project in Carrying Place to our project in Prinyers Cove is 1 hour and 5 minutes. That's according to Google....if Kyle is driving it will take less time ;) I'm joking...Kyle is a very responsible driver!
The projects are very similar, in that, the customers have decided to do a lot of their own sourcing for finishes. Conversely, they are very different in their building style, one is modern and one is a more traditional bungalow! Both customers have taken a very active role in the selection process, sometimes this can leave me (Christine) twiddling my thumbs a bit...but in this case it has left me freed up to work on our third upcoming project of the year...and I cannot wait to show you the plans and details! (but not yet ;P).
Here are some framing progress pics of our Carrying Place project:

Renovations Galore!
Typically we don't do renovations, we like to stick to what we are good at; new custom homes, but somehow we couldn't say no to these two large scale renos!
The Beacon (vacation rental property) is located above the Duke of Wellington restaurant in Wellington. It was a largely unused and unfinished space when we got ahold of it, we had free rein to do whatever we wanted (right down to the fixtures and furniture!) Gotta love that!

Eek......
But it looks great now!

The second Renovation is a huge undertaking (and a logistical nightmare), which of course is why we said yes...we love a challange!
It's the renovation of the Summer Camp on Waupoos Island! This project is going to take a few seasons to complete, but we will try and give you a few updates along the way.
Here are some before photos of the beautiful grounds!

Welbanks Semi Update
We are ecstatic, and also sorry, to inform you that all of our semi-detached homes in the Welbanks subdivision are now sold. We are currently finishing the last unit for a great local couple and their daughter. I think they are really going to enjoy the Welbanks community.
Here are a couple pictures of Lot 61 and 63, the last 2 units we completed (because I have really been slacking with finish pictures...sorry about that!)

Hello Strangers!
It has been far too long since our last post (thanks to John for pointing that out)! We will try to be less tardy in the future!
We've got lots to show you since our last post...hopefully we will have photos updated on the website soon...but, for us, our current clients come first ... social media is a close second though. Check out Instagram (@kleurdesign and @hickoryhomes) for snippets of current work.
The Modern Barn (or "that big red barn house" to locals!):
It is the talk of Wellington, people love it or hate it...I love it, those red architectural panels are fantastic (and so is the lovely lady who lives there).
Here are some pictures of the custom interior details in the space.... this was a FUN house to design, source and build. I just love it when clients are up for anything! We hope Karin enjoys living in it as much as we enjoyed building it.

Morgan Road:
We started a new home on Morgan road in June. This isn't one of our typical design/build projects, but we are enjoying it none the less! These clients came to us with plans and finishes and we are just bringing their plans to life. At this point we are taking it to the interior finishes stage and the homeowners are finishing themselves.
Stay tuned

Spring is here...or is it?
If you have driven through Wellington lately you are sure to notice our project on the waterfront across from the Gas station! It is gloriously red...and fabulous, and it stands out in the crown (in a great way). We are affectionately calling this one our "Modern Barn". We are having a lot of fun with this client. The custom designed architectural panel siding makes me VERY happy....those lines.....

The Beginning of 2016
I can't believe this is our first post of 2016! Where does the time go? Well at least it's a good one, filled with lots of great news.
We spent December and January finishing up our late summer/fall builds. Our Morrison Point project is completed and the homeowners moved in just before Christmas.

We just closed another of our Semi-Detached units in Picton (This morning!). I will get some finish shots next week. We only have one unit still available so if you are interested, act now!
Last night was our building association awards night and we are honoured to have received a couple of those awards. We are actively involved in the Prince Edward County Construction Association (PECCA) and for the past 3 years Kyle has been the vice-president of the association. PECCA has some great members who are also doing lots of projects in PEC. Mayor Robert Quaiff and MPP Todd Smith were in attendance and had encouraging things to say about Prince Edward County and our role as builders within the County. Thanks to MPP Todd Smith for his shout out this morning on Twitter!
We especially want to congratulate Woodcrafters on their stunning submission in the Residential category and Elmer Bentley and The County Canteen for their first place win in the Commercial Category.
We won 2015's Residential Home of the Year for our Smith's Bay Custom house and we were runner up for Commercial Project of the Year for our renovation at Henderson Williams LLP
Obviously we can't do this alone, so a big THANK-YOU to our guys on site and our reliable sub-contractors! We are happy to have shared this fun night with Tyler, Wayne and Kylee (and their better halves)!
